Happy New Year, everyone!

Lately, life has been far more hectic than usual. With a professional, non-related music career, in addition to other personal interests and pursuits, it has been difficult to find the time to assemble a Deep House mix that meets the stringent standards that I require for public posting. With that said, a new Deep House mix will be available soon, and the process will continue more frequently throughout 2013.

I am very pleased with the last mix, Subterranean Party Hunters: Volume 2. Nevertheless, this time around I plan to go deeper and further underground.

Since returning to the decks last year, after a near 20 year absence, I believe that I have finally found my stylistic voice, from a deejay perspective, again. The aforementioned reality motivates me even more so to provide new Deep House mixes on a regular, monthly basis, as they will definitely provide listeners with something different than the norm.

Lastly, I have also been steadily working on several underground Deep House tracks that I anticipate to release in 2013. Hopefully, the tracks will display my roots as a deejay and Jazz musician, and furthermore, reflect the foundations of the early House music movement.

Please keep in contact via Twitter. Take care, and as always, keep your ears open.

Sincerely,
DJ Retro Blaze

Hello everyone,

My Soulful House Session mix series kicks off with its first volume. The mix features not only various Deep and Soulful House tracks, but also a few Acid Jazz selections.

I am unsure where I will take this series in the future. I wish to distinguish it from an underground Deep House series of mixes I will be putting forth, which will be my primary showcase focus. Therefore, I minimized the number of tracks that I would have potentially included in the said underground Deep House series, but still reflect an aspect of my deejay style and personality.

The mix was recorded on May 11, 2012, with two Stanton ST.150 turntables, a Denon DN-X1600 Mixer and Native Instruments Traktor Scratch Pro 2 software.

Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy! The mix can be streamed and/or downloaded from the Mixes section of this website or various other DJ mix hosting sites.

Best regards,
DJ Retro Blaze
